How are you doing today?

I’m doing very well! The sun’s out, life’s good, and I just had a delicious sandwich for lunch.

How did you first hear about HALF UNITED?

My first semester at UNCW, I went to Overflow (the college ministry at Port City Community Church) and I saw the drummer that night (Christian) wearing a SWEET shirt with an anchor and flags on it, along with a necklace I had never seen before. Now I have an uncanny obsession with anchors, so naturally I asked someone about the shirt and necklace, and they told me it was from a company called Half United. After that I started to learn more about the company and eventually decided ‘Hey! I think I want to work with them!’

What is your role here and what are you most excited to learn during your internship at HU?

Well, officially I do inventory and customer care. This involves working at both the old headquarters in Downtown Wilmington and in the new corporate offices off of Independence. I help process, assemble, and package orders that leave from the headquarters while I am there, as well as keep up with customers to make sure they are satisfied. When I’m at the corporate office I’m usually just doing whatever Caleb doesn’t want to do. Just kidding, he has me doing all kinds of stuff: sales reports, contacting our partners, and other office operation stuff. I’m excited about every aspect of this internship! I’ve already gained boat loads of experience and all of the people here are great. I can’t wait to keep learning from everyone!

If you could become one animal, what would it be?

Are you kidding me? A panda.

Why are you inspired to fight global hunger?

I’ve grown up in a great family surrounded by people who live to serve others. I went to a Christian school the majority of my life and one verse that has always stuck with me is Luke 12:48, which says “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” I guess that’s one reason I’m inspired to fight global hunger. That, to me, is what “doing my half” is all about.

And lastly, what is the secret to life?

An Interview with HU Inventory/Customer Care Intern, Ann Davis

How are you doing today?

Great. I just started my last semester of college…ever, and it is a good feeling!

How did you first hear about HALF UNITED?

My friends turned me onto the company during my first year of college. They had all gotten a bullet necklace and told me about how it gives back to kids in need. I loved the uniqueness of the necklaces, and was even more delighted to discover that the company gives back, so of course I had to get one for myself J

What is your role here and what are you most excited to learn during your internship at HU?

I am an Inventory and Customer Care Intern and perform an array of activities, but am mainly responsible for delivering exceptional customer service through phone, e-mail, social media, and in-person, and assist in the assembly and packaging of our products. As a business student, I am eager to learn about the entire business process at HU, but am most excited to witness and possibly be a part of the company’s marketing strategies and techniques.

If you could become one animal, what would it be?

A kangaroo, so I can live in Australia again.

Why are you inspired to fight global hunger?

I feel like so many people are so obsessed with money, and it’s refreshing to work for a company that’s main focus is to give back and improve the lives of others. I’ve been blessed with a great life, and I feel really guilty sometimes when I’m reminded of less fortunate people like these kids. I’m so excited about the opportunity to work with Half United and give back!

And lastly, what is the secret to life? (this can be silly or serious if you so choose)

To make a difference in the life’s of others. It sounds cliché, but it’s true. People are going to remember you for how you made them feel. You should do things for others for no reason, and not brag about it. It may or may not change their lives, but it will change yours for sure.
