We are very excited here at HALF UNITED to be partnering with a middle school in our local community! DC Virgo Preparatory Academy was shut down in 2010 due to a lack of government funding and has just opened back up for the 2012-2013 school year. They only have a 6th grade class right now and are hoping to eventually become a full middle school again, but not without the help of some amazing community partners.

We will be working with DC Virgo Preparatory Academy to help plant a community garden to empower the youth at the school. This will provide fresh vegetables not only for eating, but for learning as well. The whole team is really excited to be empowering the youth that live in our own neighborhood. We are also hoping to work with the backpack program at the school and provide food for the children to take home with them on the weekends! With the school being located just down the street from our Headquarters we are going to be able to really build sustainable relationships with the teachers and students here.
